The Alondra Park Chess Club is offering group chess lessons for Juniors age 7 to 12 on Mondays 6:30 to 8:30. Lessons are aimed towards beginners and players rated up to 1000 USCF. Knowledge of how the pieces move is required.
There is a $30 registration fee for participation in each 6-week session. Fees can be paid cash at the club or under the Register tab.

Our regular tournaments are held Wednesdays from 6:15 to 8:30. We play typically 5 or 6-Round Swiss tournaments, with a time control of game in 55 minutes with a 5 seconds delay. One each evening one round of the tournament is played. About 30 to 40 players attend our tournaments. Players can choose between 2 sections - a " Junior" section intended for juniors, beginners and players up to a USCF rating of 1000 and an "Open" for players above a rating of 1000.

We meet in the Community Room at Alondra Park at 3850 Manhattan Beach Blvd, Lawndale CA. The building is located on Manhattan Beach Blvd approximately 0.2 miles east of the Prairie Ave intersection. The entrance to the parking lot right next to the Community Room can easily be missed, especially at night or when cars are parked along the street. Link to Alondra Community Regional Park website.
At the end of 2024, we might have to hold our meeting at the "Gym" on the other side of the park (near the lake). Enter the parking lot at the intersection of Redondo Beach Blvd and Yukon Av (at the stop light). The gym is located just about 200 ft. to the east of the parking lot entrance.
